This Best Cranberry Sauce recipe is the perfect combination of sweet cranberry with a hint of cinnamon and orange.

It is that time of year again. The cranberries have found their way back into the stores and I for one couldn’t be happier about it. I absolutely love cranberry sauce especially homemade. The flavors and texture of the berries beat out any canned sauce to be sure. This cranberry sauce is my very favorite one to make for the holidays as it has a hint of orange and cinnamon that pairs perfectly with the cranberries. Try this recipe with my Shredded Chicken and Cranberry Sauce for a delicious dinner any night of the week.

What You Will Need To Make Best Cranberry Sauce

1 cup sugar

12 oz package of whole cranberries

1 small orange

1 tsp of cinnamon

Directions

Wash the cranberries and add them to a sauce pot. Pour sugar and cinnamon over.

Zest orange over the pan. Cut the orange in half. Squeeze juice into the pot (2 tbsp). If there isn’t enough juice for 2 tbsp, you can add 1 tbsp of water. Give the ingredients a stir. Add the lid onto the sauce pot and allow it to simmer on low for about 20 minutes on the stove top or until the cranberries have broken down.

Yield: 2 cups of cranberry sauce
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1-12 oz bag of whole cranberries
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 small orange

Instructions

  1. In a small sauce pot add the cranberries, sugar and cinnamon.
  2. Zest the orange peel directly over the sauce pot.
  3. Cut orange in half and squeeze juices into the pot (2 tbsp)
  4. Cut a few slices of the peel and add about three slivers of it to the pot for flavor
  5. Simmer on low on the stove top for about 20 minutes or until the cranberries are broken down
