DIY Natural Foaming Hand Soap (Easy Recipe)
Make a natural foaming hand soap with simple ingredients that you can customize to your scent preferences. This homemade foaming hand soap is easy to make and is a great cost effective option for a natural hand soap.
One of my favorite things to do is place nice things around my house for daily use. Sometimes this is in the form of a pretty. soft towel to dry our hands on, or my delicious hand balm placed near the sink to rub into my clean hands. And yes, a good hand soap is also important. Like anyone else, we wash our hands several times a day and this is the perfect opportunity to create a sweet subtle experience that can bring a sense of luxury to the every day. I know there are a ton of different options out there as far as good hand soaps go but as much as I love a good scent, I don’t want to use things that are filled with toxins.
For a long time, I have been purchasing antibacterial soaps and little bars of soap from specialty shops to enjoy. However these have not always been natural products. As I pay closer attention to things I bring into our home I find I want good options, better options I should say then the hidden toxic chemicals that so many companies disguise in their products. The best place to start I find is with daily use items, like a hand soap as these are constantly needing to be refilled. One of the great tings about making your own hand soap is that as long as you keep a couple easy ingredients on hand, you never run the risk of running out.
You can also scent them anyway you like and of course add them to a beautiful glass bottle for extra enjoyment. I personally love a good foaming hand soap dispenser so that the soap is like a little cloud each time I use it. In the name of better health, responsible sourcing and peace of mind, I say making our own homemade hand soap is a good place to start.
This homemade liquid hand soap is a simple swap to do if you are looking to use more natural products in your home. It is also a good choice among other more complicated options. I like to add a few drops of essential oils to mine for a nice subtle fragrance however, this is not necessary. One of the great things about diy products is you can decide exactly what goes into them. Fragrance or no fragrance, this is a nice hand soap to use on a daily basis.

Why Make Your Own
Using natural products in my house has been a game changer in not just finding things that I can use and feel good about in my home. But the savings is phenominal! Making your own natural products for cleaning, beauty and self care has saved me time and money along with providing me a way to keep things on hand so I never run out.
I used to struggle finding the right cleaners or products to use on my skin and what I found was I would end up wasting my money on things that didn’t work or using things that I knew wasn’t the most healthiest of options. So I highly recommend checking out the natural home, and beauty tab if you have not done so already.
FAQ
What is the shelf life of this natural foaming hand soap?
Since essential oils can go rancid, there is a shelf life for this Natural Foaming Hand Soap. One way to store longer, is to make unscented versions and then when ready to use or give out, add the essential oil of your choosing. If you decide to blend ahead and store, this natural foaming hand soap should last 5 months or more if stored in a cool dry place. Sometimes longer, with anything you make yourself and store. Be sure to smell prior to using. Its pretty obvious when an essential oil has gone rancid.
What is castile soap?
You might be wondering what exactly Castile soap is and if is it natural. Well, that is exactly what I wondered. Castile soap is a vegetable-based soap. Free from chemicals, animal fat, or synthetic ingredients. This soap comes from the Mediterranean region in Castile, Spain, and dates back to the 12th century. Today it is widely available for purchase. I have included my resource for purchasing Castile soap in both larger and smaller portions.
Can I use this soap blend in a regular dispenser?
I would not use a regular dispenser for this soap as the soap will come out watery since you are adding water to the soap bottle. You can opt to just use the castile soap to fill you dispenser. However, keep in mind, this will take a lot more soap this way and become less cost effective.
How to store
For best results store your essential oils, and castile soap in a cool dry place. I find a hall closet or under my kitchen sink to be adequate. If you premix your soap and leave it in the foaming dispenser before needing it, I would suggest also storing it in a cool dry place out of the sunlight. The good news is that this diy hand soap is so easy to mix up that you can just mix it up on the spot whenever your soap runs low.
