This Natural Foaming Hand Soap is a simple, effective foaming soap that is completely natural and one you can leave unscented or make scented if you like.
Of late, I have been proud to stand back and take a peek at all the things I have been able to replace with healthier options. When you first begin reading labels and understanding the toxicity of the ingredients often found in a lot of our daily-use items. It seems overwhelming. Almost impossible really. How can anyone know all of this information and quite frankly who has the time to read up on it all? Honestly, it is overwhelming.
There is so much out there to be aware of. In day-to-day living, it feels like we are adding yet another burden to our plates to be aware of them. However, after learning a bit more. Making little changes that amounted to something significant over time. I am happy to say, that I can look back and tell you it is well worth it.
To learn healthier options, learn how to make things with your own two hands. Understand the impact of such choices and overall have a general awareness when purchasing items. I began and still recommend to others, to start with the basics. Simply go around your home, and make note of what you use, mostly on a daily basis. Things like what you are using to clean, and wash your clothes with, and everyday use items that are a part of your hygiene routine.
These will give you a good starting place for swapping out healthier options.
Why I Love This Blend
I am happy to say I have officially been able to swap out our hand soap. Something that has been a little bit of a challenge. Not that I couldn’t find a decent natural hand soap easily but one that I could make on my own and that I liked as much as something I had purchased. It is always my priority to make my own when able. This Foaming Hand Soap is so simple to make as long I keep a few easy things on hand. I can make it on demand when we are fresh out.
For daily-use items that run out often, it is nice to be able to mix something go. That is exactly what this Natural Foaming Hand Soap is. A quick mix of a few things and bam! We have good quality hand soap again in no time at all. I love the fact that I can scent this any way I like or not. Below I have included a few of my favorite blends for this soap.
What You Will Need
To make, fill the soap dispenser about 1/4 of the way with the Castile soap.
Add any essential oils you like. See below for scent suggestions and recommended amounts to use.
Fill the rest of the way with filtered water.
Place the dispenser top on and give it a shake to combine the ingredients.
The Natural Foaming Hand Soap is now ready to use.
Blends To Try
Rosemary and Lemon: 5 drops of each should give a nice blend that gives a fresh clean scent.
Citrus Blend: Sweet Orange, Grapefruit, Lemon: 3 drops of orange, 3 drops of grapefruit and 4 drops of lemon give this natural hand soap a clean citrusy burst to the hand soap that makes it a pleasure to use.
Lavender: The calming properties of lavender creates a nice soothing hand soap with subtle sweet scent. Lavender is also great for sensitive skin.
Rose and Bergamot: 5 drops of rose essential oil and 5 drops of bergamot essential create a feminine and floral scent for an upscale feel to this natural hand soap.
Winter Blend: A perfect blend for winter and one that works well for the men folk in your life. This winter blend smells so good. 5 drops of sweet orange, 3 drops of cedarwood and 2 drops of frankincense.
How to store?
Store in a glass container with a lid. Normally I store mine in the container I will be using to pump the soap from so it is ready to go when I need it. Keep the container in a cool dry place, somewhere like a hall closet or pantry works great.
What is the shelf life of this Natural Foaming Hand Soap?
Since essential oils can go rancid, there is a shelf life for this Natural Foaming Hand Soap. One way to store longer, is to make unscented versions and then when ready to use or give out, add the essential oil of your choosing. If you decide to blend ahead and store, this natural foaming hand soap should last 5 months or more if stored in a cool dry place. Sometimes longer, with anything you make yourself and store. Be sure to smell prior to using. Its pretty obvious when an essential oil has gone rancid.
What is Castile soap?
You might be wondering what exactly Castile soap is and if is it natural. Well, that is exactly what I wondered. Castile soap is a vegetable-based soap. Free from chemicals, animal fat, or synthetic ingredients. This soap comes from the Mediterranean region in Castile, Spain, and dates back to the 12th century. Today it is widely available for purchase. I have included my resource for purchasing Castile soap in both larger and smaller portions.
