Salmon for me is a great go-to quick protein that I can defrost quickly and have on the table in minutes. This is likely why there are so many salmon recipes that are frequently posted on this blog.

Salmon is also tremendously versatile to work with and to demonstrate this I will share some of our favorites for you to try.

However, this honey mustard glazed salmon could not be easier to prepare and the result is a delicious, flavorful salmon that literally took less than 5 minutes to put together. What could be simpler?

Speaking of simple, be sure to check out this video for Quick and Easy Spring Meal Ideas that will help you with your meal planning during the warmer days ahead.

Honey Mustard Glazed Salmon Is…

  • The perfect blend of simple ingredients that the whole family will love.
  • Made with fresh or frozen salmon fillets.
  • An easy weeknight dinner and my favorite salmon recipe to make.
  • A simple glaze baked onto juicy salmon for an easy salmon recipe.
  • A tasty leftover salmon that is great to toss into a salad the next day.
  • Made from a combination of honey and coarse-grain mustard for the perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

Mustard-The type of mustard you use can vary. I like to use grainy coarse ground mustard for this recipe, like Grey Poupon. But in a pinch, I have used standard yellow mustard with similar results. You can also use spicy mustards to give the salmon a kick.

Honey- Be sure to use real honey and not a honey substitute. I use raw honey for this recipe but filtered will work just fine. Honey provides a rich touch of sweetness to the salmon and helps it to form a glaze.

Olive Oil- I use extra virgin olive oil but you can substitute that for pure olive oil or avocado oil.

Salmon Filets- Be sure to use good quality salmon filets for the best results. Fresh, good-quality salmon should be firm to the touch and bright pink. Wild salmon if possible.

Cooking Tips

  • Be sure to start with defrosted filets. To defrost quickly place the individually wrapped salmon filets in a bowl of lukewarm water for several minutes.
  • Use a whisk to combine the mixture.
  • Using a piece of parchment on the baking sheet will make cleaning up easier.
  • If you don’t have a baking sheet, use a baking dish.
  • Do not overcook. Bake salmon until it flakes with a fork and has an internal temperature of 145℉ after resting for 5 minutes. This means you should take it out at about 130℉ as the salmon will continue cooking internally as it rests. Allow salmon to rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions

Honey Mustard Glazed Salmon can be served alone or with various other side dishes. Here are a few of our favorite ways to enjoy this salmon dish.

  • Over a bed of mixed greens drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper.
  • Served alongside rice and roasted veggies such as Roasted Asparagus.
  • Great with mashed potatoes.
  • For an almost completely hands-off dinner, throw a baking sheet into the oven with diced potatoes, and green beans drizzled with olive oil, salt, and pepper. When the potatoes are tender, pop the salmon into the oven to cook alongside them as they continue crisping up.

Selecting The Best Salmon

Ensuring good quality ingredients is the key to any delicious recipe. Start with salmon that has a moist appearance. It should never be dried out. Color is a great indicator as fresh salmon should have a bright pink or deep red color.

Avoid any salmon that has spots or a pale appearance. The salmon should be firm to the touch and not fragile at all. If you were to press into the filet it should spring back and not leave an indentation. It should also be plump.

How To Store

Store leftover salmon in aluminum foil or an airtight container. Leftover salmon will last up to two days when stored in the fridge.
